Ship vibration is generated by machinery including its propulsion system and sea. The vibration is objectionable when it may result in excessive stresses on structural and mechanical components, adverse effects on reliability or serviceability of machines and equipment, and adverse comments from crew and passengers on vibration that interferes with duties or reduces comfort. Hence, reducing ship vibration is regarded as a key technology to build high-quality ships.
