In fierce global competition, Organic Material Science and Engineering is one of the growth engines of next generation. It is based on basic science such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology and is expected to be one of the most important applied sciences of the 21st century for high product development.
And, organic Material Science and Engineering holds an important position in development of a nation's industry, therefore it indicates the competitive power of the nation. Fine chemistry engineering such as functional synthetic resin, synthetic polymer with the functionality, and natural polymer, which has contributed the most parts in leading our country to one of the forefront, has its base on the clothing, fiber, and industrial fiber industry. Advancement of electronic engineering has its base on electronic industry such as semiconductor memory, TEF-LCD, flat panel display, 3D display, secondary cell, and fuel cell. Bio industry, which is a most important portion of medicine, has its base on numerous efforts of organic material scientists to develop new biomedicine and artificial organs. Whatever upcoming field will be, Organic Material Science and Engineering will always play a major role.
Graduates find jobs in various industries or continue their studies in graduate schools. Currently, the School boasts of high employment rate among graduates many of whom now work for global companies which are known for fine‐chemical, electronic materials, textiles, petrochemical and pharmaceutical. Graduates with Masters or Doctoral degrees can go on to become a researcher or professor at national or private research institutes and universities.
